Summer Service & Welcome Back BBQ

Bookmark and Share

Dear Families,

I hope this letter finds you well and enjoying the summer. In order to keep the Pope John Paul II spirit all year long, we are inviting students to participate in one of three community service events this summer through Cape Abilities, CHAMP House, and Habitat for Humanity. Cape Abilities helps individuals with disabilities on Cape Cod by offering residential, social, and employment support and both CHAMP House and Habitat for Humanity provide affordable housing to Cape Cod residents. Students will be assisting the organizations with three projects – a farm, a vegetable garden, and building houses.

The dates and descriptions of each event are as follows:

Thursday, August 13
9 am – 12 noon

Cape Abilities:
Work on their farm at 458 Main Street, Route 6A in Dennis

Saturday, August 15
7:45 am – 3:30 pm

Habitat for Humanity:
Build, paint, and landscape houses at Gomes Way, Harwich
(Please note you must be at least 14 years old to volunteer with Habitat. Additional forms will need to be completed prior to attending this event.)

Saturday, August 22
1 – 5 pm

CHAMP House:
Work on their vegetable garden at the Pavilion between 83 and 75 School Street in Hyannis

Why not join us at one of these events and start the year off with some of your service hours done? Pope John Paul II High School will provide supervision at all events. Parents must drop off and pick up their child at all locations. Please complete the form enclosed with your mailing including event preference and return it to the school by August 5. Note - space is limited.

Thank you,

Annie Cervin
Summer Intern

P.S. Don’t forget to RSVP to the Welcome Back BBQ by August 12th!
